Raven Rocks Gallery Presents:
“Bright, Shiny Objects: Jewelry by Helen Nind
May 1 through May 31, 2019
Open House on Second Saturday, May 11, 2019, from 2PM – 5PM
Raven Rocks joyfully announces the debut for the jewelry designs of Helen Nind to our gallery. Helen was born in the UK and grew up in rural Worcestershire, near Shakespeare country. Her husband’s involvement in the Boeing 787 project brought the family to America in 2006, but what was initially expected to be a two year stay never ended and the family settled happily into the Edmonds community. Being unable to work before a green card was obtained, she volunteered in her sons’ elementary school, getting involved with making artwork with the students for the school fundraising auctions. It was during this time she attended a silver soldering course which rekindled a love for jewelry making. The beach is possibly her favorite place to be and making jewelry featuring sea glass collected on visits to the seashore, forms a link that feels right and continues to inspire her creative energies. Her creations span a range from simply fun everyday pieces to those with the elegant touch of sterling silver. Hand drilled beach glass, charms, stones and an ever changing array beads and found objects all combine to make the perfect gifts for special occasions, or just because they’re fun!
May we will also be featuring the a new addition to the gallery of collector mineral specimens, hand cut gemstones and beach rocks from Windwalker Taibi, as well as his one of a kind pendants made from gemstones, wood, antler and more. A special collection of beautiful and unusual quartz crystals from Windwalker’s collection site in the North Carolina mountains will be an ongoing, ever changing, event throughout spring and summer.
