"Night" - Green Man Series 1, Framed by Kathleen Dodge DeHaven - Felt Art
Night — Green Man Series #1
By Kathleen Dodge DeHaven
The yellow day purples, then leadens into slumber. Gently, the wings of darkness settle like a cloak over the land, as the butterfly gives way to the moth. The Moon Hare leaps across the sky, leaving a spangle of stars. The moon begins her journey. While some slumber, others hunt, prowl, explore, live, and love by her light.
This sculpture is made of wool fibers worked with a special felting needle. I can sculpt the wool into whatever shape I desire, but it takes hundreds of thousands of stabs of the needle to get to the work you see here. When the felting is done, I patiently sew on glass beads in all the right places to give the work a little more sparkle and shine.
Professionally framed with crystal clear, non-reflective, UV-protective Museum Glass® for years and years of unfading beauty. Framed work is H: 22.5”, W: 16.5”, D: 2”.
