Sun Salutation #4: It’s the Little Things (brooch) — Needle felting is the process of tangling sheep’s wool or other animal fibers with a special barbed needle. Wet felting uses water, soap, and agitation to do the same. Kathleen created this piece using both types of felting, then embellished the piece with a simple embroidery stitch, a sprinkling of spangles, and a stainless steel brooch pin finding.
Enjoy your It’s the Little Things brooch for years to come. Wool is naturally anti-static so it doesn’t easily attract dust, and it’s anti-microbial, too. Use a soft paintbrush to remove dust as needed. Keep your artwork out of direct sunlight, and away from grease. The piece can also be gently hand-washed: fill a clean bowl with cool water mixed with a drop of mild soap. Soak the piece for 30 minutes, then rinse in cool water, and air dry on top of a warm clothes dryer.
