To create this piece, I first laid out a partially felted base in swaths of color. Over this partial-felt base, I distributed the wool and other fibers with wild abandon, almost dancing my way around the table as I allowed my mind to run free. After the layout, I wet the piece with soap and water, and “felted” the work, first rubbing gently with my hands, and later rolling the piece in a big bundle until the fibers meshed together in this explosion of color, movement, and texture that I call “Tempest.”
